Terms of use

Last updated: 10 August 2026

Cut The Crap is operated by Noémie Rakotomalala, Switzerland (contact@cut-the-crap.app). By using the site you agree to what follows. If you don't, don't use it.

What this is

Cut The Crap is a free novelty and entertainment tool. It listens to speech in your browser, matches it against a fixed list of corporate jargon, and returns a score, a letter grade and a rude remark.

It is not an assessment of your communication skills, your competence, your personality or your professional worth. The "Crap Score", the grades and the percentile line are deliberately unscientific. The percentile in particular is modelled from your score, not measured against real speakers. Do not use any of it to make decisions about hiring, promotion, performance management, or anything else that affects a real person.

No account, no guarantees of availability

There is nothing to sign up for and nothing is saved. Sessions vanish when you close the tab. We may change, limit or discontinue the service — including the free session limit — at any time and without notice.

Acceptable use

Don't:

You are responsible for what you say into your own microphone and for having the right to say it in whatever room you're in.

Intellectual property

The source code of this application is published at github.com/suchipizza/cut-the-crap under the MIT licence — use it accordingly. The name "Cut The Crap", the wordmark, the visual design and the written copy (grade names, verdicts, and the rest of the voice) are not covered by that licence and remain ours. Result images you generate are yours to post wherever you like, branding included — that's rather the point.

Third parties

Speech recognition is performed by your browser and its provider, not by us. Analytics, hosting and waitlist email are handled by the processors named in our privacy policy. We're not responsible for their services.

Warranty and liability

The service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy of detection, or uninterrupted availability. Jargon detection is a regular-expression match against a word list: it will miss things and it will flag things unfairly.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental or consequential damages arising from your use of the service. Nothing here excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including for intent or gross negligence, or for injury to life, body or health.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Switzerland, excluding its conflict-of-law rules and the CISG. Place of jurisdiction is Switzerland, to the extent the law permits such a choice. Mandatory consumer-protection rights in your country of residence are unaffected.

Changes

We may update these terms; the date at the top will change when we do. Continuing to use the site after that means you accept the new version.
